As seen in the Winter edition of Tees Business
There has been an Archers in Teesside for over 150 years. Now known as Archers Law the firm has grown from humble beginnings on the high street to a modern law firm employing over 70 talented people.
With a focus on Teesside and surrounding areas, the firm has strengthened its position in the regional market, managing a period of growth that has seen it almost doubling the size of its workforce.
The expansion along with recent professional accolades has bolstered the reputation of the firm. Recognition at The Northern Law Awards for both personal and business client services highlights the firm’s expertise with short listings and winner titles across corporate, commercial property, family and private client. The firm was shortlisted as Northern Law Firm of the Year.
With growth across the commercial property, corporate, employment and private client teams successfully managed, the appointment of Kenton Bazeley in 2018 as Partner and Head of Litigation has led to that area of law quickly following suit after an 18-month development period.
Two further litigation appointments, Associate Solicitor Helen Lyne and Legal Assistant Natalie Wilson have been an integral part of the team, with the recent appointment of Solicitor Hayley Bartram strengthening further.
Kenton says: “Whilst the team has seen a dramatic level of development in both the quality and quantity of litigation work, the best thing about the team is the positivity. There is a real energy and enthusiasm to succeed as a team and to do the very best for the clients.”
The firm has doubled the size of its corporate offering in the last two years. The appointment of Oliver Hebdon during the summer followed an earlier boost in the team’s resource with Solicitor Jayne Jones joining and Daniel Flounders promotion to Partner. The team’s success has led to growth of its mergers and acquisitions service across the region.
David Adams, Partner and Head of Corporate says: “Our recent appointments support the growth of the team and the increase in the number of deals from clients has meant ensuring we have the right level of legal expertise to provide a first-class provision.”
The business client team received further recognition in the recently published Legal 500. Outside of Newcastle the commercial property, litigation and corporate services had top tier rankings, with both employment and corporate as highest-ranking legal 500 teams in Teesside for their respective areas of law.
Christopher Todd, Managing Partner says, “Clients often say we are straightforward and approachable. The type of people that they want to work with. In the 28 years I have been at the firm, I consider our current team to be the best. We trust in their expertise to provide our personal and business clients with the highest of standards in legal advice.”
