Racing Home for Christmas!
We are sure you know the popular Christmas song ‘Driving home for Christmas.’ by Chris Rea, but did you know Chris Rea was from Middlesbrough? Did you also know that, as the story goes, Chris, who was recently out of contract with this record label, thought it was cheaper to drive home instead of getting the train. So his wife drove to get him and they drove all the way home to Middlesbrough from Abbey Road studios just before Christmas, hence the song was written.
We know this year has been very different and we would usually all be involved in all sorts of fun over the festive period. We wanted to do something both challenging and fun in the run up to Christmas and as many of us have been walking our way around lockdown, what better way to do that than with a step challenge?
The distance form Abbey Road studios to Archers Law is (approximately) 300 miles. We are challenging teams of 6 to race home to Archers Law, by walking 633,600 steps (the equivalent of 300 miles). Starting on Friday 4th December until Friday 11th December (or before if they arrive sooner), encourage your team members to walk as many steps as possible towards the target. There will be a prize for the team who reaches home first!
As patrons of Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, we are encouraging those who participate in the challenge to donate to their Christmas appeal. For more information – follow this link.
We will be sure to keep everyone up to date on the teams progress - watch this space!
