Meet the team: Vicki Gibbons.
Q: What is your role at Archers Law?
I am part of the family team working as a Legal Clerk. My role is primarily dealing with the divorce cases for all of our Family clients. In addition to this, I am also involved in the preparation of court documentation in relation to financial and children matters.
Q: How long have you been at the firm and a little about your career journey so far.
I have been with Archers since January 2019. I started working as an office junior within a law firm at the age of 17 before obtaining a Paralegal qualification in 1999. Whilst I have mainly worked in Family Law, for a period of 3 years I also worked in the Probate Department dealing mainly with deputyship files that included the preparation of annual financial reports to the Office of the Public Guardian.
Q: What did you want to be when you were younger?
I always wanted to be a secretary and work in an office environment. As a result, my parents bought me my first typewriter when I was just 7 years old!
Q: What made you want to pursue a career in law?
I obtained my first job as an office junior in a law firm and after 12 months was promoted to a junior secretary in Family Law. I was able to learn so much whilst working a secretary and decided that I wanted to pursue this further which is when I decided to qualify as a Paralegal.
Q: Have you always lived in Teesside and what is your favourite thing about the Tees Valley?
I have lived in Teesside all my life and when I go away on holiday one of the best things I like about coming home is the sight of the Transporter Bridge because it then means I’m back home.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
During my spare time I like to go cycling to local areas including Preston Park and Ormesby Hall. I have a keen interest in National Trust properties and am a lifelong member. I love reading and often take a book with me when I go cycling so that when I arrive at my destination I can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet – weather permitting of course. I love eating out at restaurants with my family and friends.
Q: One fact/ thing people may not know about you!
When I was younger I loved drawing and was quite good at it. In 1981 I came 1st in a painting competition judged by the Mayor of Middlesbrough. My painting was a picture of Prince Charles and Princess Diana on their wedding day.
